Rehearsal times:
Junior singers (aged 7 to 11) rehearse from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Senior singers (aged 12 to 18) rehearse from 7:30 pm to 9 pm.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals take place every Monday evening, with the exception of holidays. Our season runs from September to May, with a winter break in December.
Our rehearsal space is located at 605 Ritson Rd. North, Oshawa (Ritson Road Alliance Church). Durham Girls' Choir is not church-affiliated. We are an independent community choir, and simply rent this space for rehearsals.
Uniforms
Our formal performance uniform is a Durham Girls’ Choir jacket, paired with dark coloured clothing (no ripped jeans) and dark shoes, with hair pulled back from the face.
Occasionally, we wear the signature DGC red t-shirts or sashes, which are assigned to each singer for specific performances, then returned. Uniforms are not required for regular rehearsals.
Attendance
Attending each rehearsal is very important, and consistent attendance ensures that choristers are comfortable with their music and prepared to perform.
Choristers are required to be ready at least five minutes before rehearsal times to sign-in, and get prepared for rehearsal.
Our rehearsal time is distraction-free: cell phones and tablets must be silenced and put away at all times during rehearsals.
Choristers are encouraged to practice at home between weekly rehearsals.
