The Durham Girls’ Choir is an artistic group of young Canadians from the
Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. We are dedicated to the achievement of
excellence in choral music and provide each member the opportunity to develop
musicality, self-esteem, friendship and harmonious connections.
The Durham Girls’ Choir’s high level of achievement demonstrates a love and
appreciation for the art of choral music. Founded in 1972, they are challenged
by a culturally diverse repertoire of treble choral music, by a vast array of composers.
The choir has gained a reputation for high standards through participation in local,
national and international music festivals. The Durham Girls’ Choir has performed
throughout Canada and Europe including the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany,
Holland, France, Belgium, and Italy and most recently participated in the
35th International Youth and Music Festival, Vienna, Austria coming away
with 3rd Place. The choir is made up of two separate groups, senior and junior
whose auditioned members range in age from 9-17. Under the artistic direction
of Mary Jane Corradetti and Janice Brydges, the Durham Girls’ Choir rehearses
weekly and performs regularly throughout the Durham Region and Ontario.
